how to get around tickets for illegal tint

he told me to tint my wi ndshield to the as1 line.

go look on a mini cooper, see if you find an as1 line.

i looked, its NOT on my windshield.

they are usually placed about 4 inches down from the top of the windshield.

if it has no line (which it should) then you can get away with about 4" of tint.

here is something i have found on a tinting forum:

1) If a car doesn't have a visible AS1 line, it may not have one. I am not sure on how they determine the location of this line, but I did have a customer come in last summer claiming that he was ticketed for a 4" strip I added to his windshield.

According to the cop, the car he had didn't have enough height visibility for an AS1 line to exist, and therefore any tint on the top was illegal. And, sure enough, his car did not have an AS1 line marked on the glass.

2) This makes sense... since the AS1 line denotes the highest point of the critical viewing area of a windshield

to the OP: this would mean your not allowed to have any tint on your windshield, period

playing dumb wont guarantee you wont get a ticket //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

they will tell you the same old shit "ignorance is not an excuse for breaking the law"

I thought that they didn't allow tint on the windshield for visibility for the driver at night. for instance if someone is walking accross the street at night in dark clothing, it would be even harder(with the tint) for the driver to see the patron, and increase the risk of them hitting a pedestrian, or worse of a child

it will be funny when he gets in an accident where it probably wasnt his fault, but he is still at fault because they deem the accident could have been avoided if his windsheild hadnt been tinted

if someone cuts you off and you hit them they could easily make that argument and could probably win

If you don't know your rights, (or act like you don't), you don't have them.

u should just make your windshield solid black. Replace the glass with black plexiglass.
spray paint would be cheaper //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
