how to fix my sub from cutting off when engine is off/on

Many bass knobs these days are simply a gain limiter, meaning all the way turned up it simply allows the amp to output full power according to gain settings on the amp. But most people associate bass knobs with a 'bass boost' function. Im not familiar with that particular amp to say which type it is however.

Your voltage numbers do not indicate a significant voltage problem to warrant the amp shutting down. I guess I should ask, when you say the subs 'shut off', does the amp itself turn off? You said it does not go into protection mode which would seem to indicate you are suggesting the amp stays on. If that's the case, Id look elsewhere for the problem.

99% of the amps today wont get ruined by to low of a voltage, they have protection for that- the amp shuts off.

It does seem to ME that you have a voltage issue. Car on the voltage will be higher in turn you can have the volume higher before it shuts off.

Now it's time to find out why.

Is the alt charging like it should, is it putting out the amperage that it should be, is it putting out at least 13.8 volts? Is the battery good? Have it tested. Is it holding a charge properly? Is it's voltage at 12+ volts when the car is off. Do your lights dim when you apply the break? Turn the AC on, what does the voltage do and by how much?, W/the AC on how high can you turn the volume before it shuts off? Are all the connections tight? ALL of them, at the battery, the amps, to the chassis?

Time to start trouble shooting.

Some of the questions yoiu askeed me are already answered a few posts above. When the music is off with the car on the voltage is at 13.83, im asuming that is what the alternator is putting out... the battery is barely hitting to a year old. I will test with the volt meter with the AC on and i will do those other things you mentioned that i have not done. THNX to all

I fixed the problem. My grounds wern't getting full contact to metal, I had placed them on this bolt that had metal to it, that I thought had contact with the chassis but in the end underneath that little bracket there was carpet which was causing it to not get full contact. I cut a square so the ground can get contact to the metal and it no longer cuts out. I turned on the AC to the max and turned up my music and its not cutting out works like a charm. here is a pic of before and after so that you can know what I am talking about.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help..

Glad to know you found it. Now go back to that bolt 1 more time and sand some paint off around that bolt then you should be good to go. Always clean off the metal. Paint will cause the same issues you just had so I'd do that real quick too so I'd have nothing to worry about.

THNX for the tip, I just did that about 30 min ago.
