How to change stock 97 Jetta speakers

model: GT

i opened it up and theres a plug in the stock speakers

with a blue/white (white stripe) and orange/white (white stripe) wire attached to the plug

i assume i can rip off the plug and splice those wires into the new speakers?

the new ones are sony xplode's

if i remember right theres a negative and positive? or black and red (same thing i guess)

connector on them

so i assume the blue and orange cord is the positive and negative? idk which is which though and i cant find anything on google. all of the things i find are the wrong colors listed

the 12 volt dot com says Left Front (+) Blue/Black

Left Front (-) Orange/Blue

i assume the 2nd colors listed there are the stripe color...and that doesnt match mine...so im lost.

just connect them and see if they work, if not switch the cables.

nevermind what colors are on the connector and i will tell u

the connector of what please? the connector on the jetta is orange w/ white stripe

and blue with whtie stripe

then on the speaker, i think its just red and black / pos. and neg.

i can double check though if you'll be on for a few mins.

should be blue/w white stripe and brown w/ white stripe. The blue one is + and the brown is -

nope, if thats brown that is one FADED *** brown

its pretty orange though

or pink or like peach maybe

i thougth of looking at the wires in the back of my cd player but theres so many back there i figure it wouldnt help.

I have all the diagrams for your car on alldata , but i cant figure out how to bring them up on here. Is it a 4 door or 2 door? does it have the bose system? And what engine size?

4 door 97 volkswagen jetta GT model. no bose. 4cyl engine and i think its 2.0liter

It says it has a woofer and tweeter

thats it i think, thats what i pulled outta the door.

im not sure about tweeters though?

those are the littler things right? i forget if its got them anywhere.
