How to achieve 155Db or more?

yesterday, an SPL competition was held for the first time in brunei... the winner got 150.2Db using 4 12" Rockford T2 inside a Suzuki Vitara not quite sure which Rockford amp he used to power it up.

as for me, i only got 143.2Db using 3 MTX 7500 Thunder, amp MTX Thunder 8100 inside a Toyota RAV4.

a friend of mine used 8 10" Lanzar Heritage powered by 2 Lanzar OPTI2000D inside a Pajero and got 145.9Db

so i'm just curious whether is it possible to achieve more than 155Db using a 3 or 4 woofer setup. if so, how?

so far, the SPL record in borneo is at 150.3Db

What mic was used for the testing?

If you're willing to wall off your RAV4 by taking out the back seats and building a subwoofer enclosure to fill the space, you would stand a better chance at mid 150's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

eheh... my backseat were removed... but most of the space was used to showoff the amps & lighting... as for the woofer box, i followed the size given in the manual and the manual say that boz measurement will give me around 35hz i think... erm... not quite sure which mic they used, cant really see it coz it was too crowded... only saw an IASCA certificate next to the equipment...

where is brunei??

anywho, i hope to hit a mere 145 with 4 infinity ref 12"s. I don't compete, but i want to be a loud daily driver. My box will be 8 cubes tuned to 35htz with a hell of a lot of port volume. only feeding them 1200rms but we'll see.

not a bad score though, and nice setup! have always wanted to try the 7500's

If your competing in IASCA you have to follow the rules to be in the stock class, so walling of your enclosure would put you into a differ class. The only way to hit those kind of numbers is lots of power, big enclosure and lots of testing, testing, testing. Maybe tuning your enclosure higher will help also.

Brunei's a little east of Indonesia, on the same island that Borneo is on.

A tiny country that happens to be sitting on a huge oil reserve...

Get about 4 18's, put them in a wall, buy a couple H.O. alternators and a dozen batteries. Then get 10kw+ to power the setup with. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

a guy at a local comp in lynchburg virginia last year hit 151 db with 1 18 kicker solo-x custom ported box on a kx-1200 it shock me because a local dealer had a mmatts juggernaut 15 on 3000 watts in a wall and only hit 149 it didnt make sence to me how was that possible

hmm... so the driver does play a part to achieve higher Db... hmm... well... gonna have to use my current setup for a few months first before changing it... eheh... would be a waste to change it straightaway after using it only for a few days... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my brother also joined the competition, he have 4 15" CVR in his Mazda 323 and only achieve 140Db... eheh... at least i get the chance to boast bout my setup in front of him... lol...
