How to accomplish extreme SPL

The problem with this forum is the mods make the wise cracks too.... i know i quit posting cause i got tired of the stupid responces.... If the mods would start banning people who do nothing but put people down and do nothing but make stupid comments and "jokes" it would actually be a helpful forum like it use to be when i 1st joined.

My 2 cents to the OP are to find a guy that competes on here that you can tell by his posts that he is here to help others and PM them and see if they can give you advice post stuff up for the general public and people will find any reason to make themselves laugh

How would i go about doing this. I want to start going around to competitions. I possibly have a Ford Festiva (a small 2 door hatchback) to do this to. One that i can strip bare and do whatever i want basically. So i guess the question is how would i do this?Like what brands of subs to use? how to design the box? what type of enclosure? wall it off? how many? how to run the wires? etc etc.

Basically I would like someone to walk me through the learning process of building a system for competitions (without being sponsored either)

Thanks you guys
First of all you need to figure out what sanctioning body you want to compete in, DB Drag, MECA, iDBL, or whatever. Next you need to pick a class and build for it. You do not want to build and then fall into a class. The Street classes in DB Drag are the most affordable but also the most competitive at most events. The most important thing to do though is have fun.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You guys are right on it. This Could be a great site only if................

you need to know your car resonant frequency first of all. then, you make some boxes tuned to the car's frequency or make a box that would be the loudest in ur little car, takes time, takes effort, gotta build couple of boxes, its fun though..

and as for subs and amplifier, start with something not to big IMO, cuz you never did this, i wouldnt get something over 1.5krms of power for the first time, besides, its plenty of power to get pretty loud if the install is right, and look for product that are efficient.

you need to move alot of air. and to move lots of air you need a big woofer or woofers. 15" or larger. try to 15" or 18" mmats juggernauts in a big spl ported box. and make sure you get a very strong amp because juggernauts need some power to work right.. if you cant find a juggernaut try the MTX RFL or 2 they are real good for spl but your not going to get good sql.

Thanks to all the people defending posts. *clap clap* And thanks for the sites. they kinda help me out. I'll mull it all over in my head for a while.

Honestly, if competiton is what you want to be into get alot of information by searching this forum or pay a reputable shop to do it for you. If your not so serious about this get a couple 15" Type R and build a wall with alot of power, and impress all your canadian friends.

If you can spend that much then why not go with some dd 3500's you can get them for a decent price used, and you dont need a insane amount of power to them and like gar12r said figure out what class you want to be in i would just start off in sb1 or 2

Dude your gonna need a sweet $3000 to compete and place. First in Canada your shit is all expensive, Alternators, Batts, Wiring, thats all about $1000. Amps about $500-1000 depending what class you want to be in. And that leaves you $1000 for sub and box. Now if you really want to compete you will have to modify the vehicle and add deadening, more money.

Ive already invested quite a bit and I can always think of a way to get louder but its all in the money your willing to spend, If you want you could spend $5000 and win Street A or spend the same amount and just wall off a van and be way louder but not place in your ultimate class or whatever.

Alternators are useless if your doing a street class because you burp the stereo with the car off.

Yea that's what they make battery chargers for. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I have a stock alternator in my van but what do I know... my shit isn't very loud.

I can help the thread starter out if he wants to PM me.

BTW your asking this question on the wrong forum. I would suggest asking it on the forum for the organization you want to compete in.
