Out of all the research that I have done, most people say that it should be 7-8 layers thick or about 1/2". Hope this helps.

yeh, anywhere from 1/2-3/4.. 7-8 layers should be fine, if properly done.

It all depends on the type / kind/ weight of your mat and or cloth you are using. If braced properly it can be done using two or three layers of kyntex biaxial mat. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

1/2"??? From 7-8 layers?

That's gotta be some thick matting y'all are using.

Typically, 1/4" is fine, depending on the sub you are using. If you're planning a Brahma with 1000 watts flowing to it, 1/2-3/4" would be better.

Thicker is always better, just not always necessary.

I've got 7-8 layers on my enclosure, and it's about 1/4" thick. I can stand on it without breaking it or even flexing it.
