How much watts can big 3 and aftermarket batt handle?

Stock alternator. Currently at 1600w rms. Thinking of getting a H/o alt got a quote from singer 220amp for 399$ and 275amp from OhioGenerators for 450$. Is it worth to upgrade for the sake of reliability or its fine.
