It really depends on what kind of work you want done. If you want it done for the cheap, Maaco is a good place to go.
But if I were you, I would do the prep work yourself like the person above me mentioned. Also, do the masking yourself - they got over spray on my WHEELS when I had them paint a few body panels that were oxidized all the way through. It cost me $300 to get the hood, roof, and a quarter panel painted with a one-step paint.
I doubt they would charge you over $200 for their three-step paint job (primer + paint + clear coat), and that paint job will honestly be just as good as the one from the factory.
This is probably your best bet, unless your friends with someone local that can spray. But check around and get some estimates.
When it comes to painting, the prep work is really what makes or breaks a paint job. You can have the most talent with a gun in your hand, but if your spraying something with little to no prep it just isn't going to work.
Spraying paint is really hit or miss. Maaco will be able to lay the paint down, but Maaco's downfall is simply just being lazy, because, well, you get what you pay for. Maaco puts minimal efforts into the prep work, resulting in a poor paint finish.
Also, dont get anything sprayed that isnt a three part process. And if you dont prep the painting surface right then the paint isnt going to adhere and your going to end up with paint falling off and a terrible paint job.
Prep the bumper yourself. Get some 400grit, pull any trim and moldings off, and scuff up all the paint and smooth out any chips or imperfections.
Take it down to Maaco, tell them you want it primed, painted and cleared. You can handle everything else. Even wet sanding and buffing if need be.
The only thing that leaves for them to **** up is laying the paint itself. Which could include runs, coverage, and how well laid out the clear is.
But, as long as the guy at Maaco has used a spray gun more than twice in his lifetime you should be fine, and if theres any issues thats what wet sanding is for.
