How much SQ do you lose with Ipod?

i wouldnt use 128kbps

at the minimum 192

def dont go lower than 192, even though there isnt a HUGEEEE different between 128 and 192, I prefer to get as close to CD quality as possible, if not better

if u use oink, you can find a lot of albums in lossless formats for the best SQ

Long story short, use the highest quality bitrate you can afford to use (space wise). Don't worry about it too much though. When you're driving 70mph down the interstate bitrate doesn't really make a huge difference.

I have some songs ripped in lossless format for "showing off" my setup. Most songs are 320kbps, and the rest of the songs that I just listen to for the heck of it are about 192kbps or up. I'm selective with high bitrate songs.

He said he was ripping it to AAC. With AAC, lower bitrates are relatively acceptable.

Still, I would use LAME and rip it to VBR mp3 with a v0 quality setting. Quality is on par with 320kbps CBR mp3 with substantially smaller size.

i have everything in MP3 format on my ipod. 256kb i prefer. 192 is ok. 128 i discard. make sure if you run tones ever you use .WAV because you need the full signal
