how much Sound Deadening do you think ill need ???

wow was just looking at that stuff. dont look to bad and good price. im going to have to thin about this.thanks for the info..
I've used it on several cars, it works well. Back in the day it was one of the bigger names, but every company practically now has deadener so it's not as talked about anymore. Still the same stuff and it's very good. Just did a buddies whole car and my roof last weekend.

I used 3 stinger road kill bulk packs

had a bit left over not much

100 sq ft

depends if you trying to cover 1 layer or multiple layers

and if your doing everything or some things

I have a small car

I say buy a bulk pack of what ever brand you like

if you need more buy more

thanks guys.

ya i have not figured out how many layers .

maby i should ask you guys.

my plan is 2 hdc3 15" in ported box. useing ppi 1800x1 on each sub.

so were should i put 2 layers or do i even need 2 layers ?

as you know my truck is in my avatar , its a 88 s10 blazer 2 door.

i do not want to rip out the inside again because i did not use enough. but if you think ill only need 1 layer that's cool. i just dont know...

I would do 1 layer of coverage everywhere you want to put it

if you are competing for numbers then double up the layers

if not 1 should be fine

it also helps with interior temperatures , interior vibrations non stereo related as well as stereo related , and road noise

thanks, ok ill just do 1 layer as i dont plan on competing only daily use. but i like big bass as most right ....

i have even been thinking about going with 3 subs ... wow 3 15" in my small suv dammmmmm

I used raammat on my 370z. It made a huge difference and i only covered 25-30% of the flat surfaces in the hatch. Ii wss easier just cover behind the door panel. I reaxched n as much as possible to stick some on the back o he exterior panel. I am guessing I got the driver's side better because you can hesr the music only n the passenger's side from the outside of the car.the sheets of foam help with interior panel vibrstion.

All I know is do it right the first time! I cheaped out on my truck and kicked myself in the *** in the end. I have $150 pack of alphadamp(not sure how any SQ feet) and am very happy with it. Plus not needing 100% coverage or extra layers.

thanks guys.

You would probably only need to treat troubled spots. I'd say get the subs in first and see where's the most flex and noise is comming from then treat those areas. Places where nothing is wrong, you dont really need to touch it. Most likely gonna have to do your hatch, and rear sides with one layer and a few layers on the roof, no need for 100% coverage if your doing it on a budget.

Main thing you want to do is decouple the interior panels with some closed cell foam which will pretty much get rid of most of your rattle problems. Afterwards is just spot treatment and foam adding where needed.

Also might want to have a layer of mass loaded vinyl on the floor of the rear hatch area to block the sound and vibration from reaching the underbody parts of the car.

i used to believe in 100% coverage until I was shown that similar results were achieved by using 30-40% of the amount of deadener I used. Thats only if you start with decent deadener to begin with. Cheap ebay, fatmat, peel and seal w/e will take layers upon layers to reach any true results when faced with 2 hdc3 15s

It depends on if you're doing everything, or just some things (doors, floor, walls, roof, ect.) Don't really have a good estimate for a large vehicle though. The only sound deadening I've done is on my car, and its tiny.
I'm guessing you read the thread about the Kolossus deadening. Check out the link for the B-stock. You could always buy a bunch, and sell your extra.
Wheres the link on bstock?
