how much power needed for tweeters run active?

Yea I though it was a lot, but I read the other people suggesting the 110w x 2 Kicker so you have the headroom to upgrade to a higher impedance tweet. Just throwing it out there lol..
The good news is, my Dayton and Alpine are coming in tomorrow! Now just waiting for vitveet to finish my box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Good luck with your active setup man! Post a build log on SL or here!
cool man. let me know how you like it all after it's done.

there really won't be much to show, just a pic of the new head unit that i got, and a 3rd amp which will just be hidden under the trunk floor. everything else will be the same appearance wise.

you on the other hand need to get a build log going on your setup. i wanna see it all.

oh and have you tried going on scionlife last night or today? it hasn't worked for me at all last night or today. idk if it's just my computer or their servers crapped out again.

Ehh, I get a **** pphBB (?) error or something every once in a while, I just click refresh about 15 times and it comes back lol. I'm on it right now though. And yea, I might just have to pull her all back apart when I put the sub in to make a log. It's a very slick, hidden build... can't even tell I have amps. I'll take a bunch of pics, no worries //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I want my **** box SO bad lol... it's the last thing I'm waiting on! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

And you say yours will look the same? But don't you lose the crossover with an active setup? You use the LPF and HPF on the amps to do the tuning right?

with an active setup your run the tweeters and mids each on seperate channels of amplification. instead of using the passive crossover that comes with the RSD's you use either a head unit that has active capabilities or you use an external electronic crossover.

i just bought a Pioneer 880PRS which will allow me to control my crossover points and slope right from there. it also has a 16 band sperate L/R EQ so you can adjust both sides to sound more even which is crucial if you want a high, wide, focused, deep, and centered sound stage.

the reason i asked this question was to see how much power people are recommending to power just a set of tweeters. i'll run the mids on the amp i'm currently using to power them passively.

so really the only thing that will appear different in my setup is the head unit. i think i'll be mounting the amp in the right rear portion underneath the trunk floor in the little storage area. i think you know where i'm talking about since you have the same car. so the 3rd amp won't even be seen. it'll be mounted there, maybe i'll move it later on and make a nice amp rack or something. not sure yet.

OHHHHH... I was under the impression you ran a whole new set of speaker cable forward to the tweets and use the filters to direct the sound from the amps. Gotcha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well you do. i'll be running the tweeters and mids both off of seperate amps with the head unit controlling the crossover points and slopes. so no passives.

a set of rca's for the woofers amp and a set of rca's for the tweeters amp. a run of speaker wire from one amp to the woofers and a run from the other amp to the tweeters. so there will be a another set of rca's and another run of speaker wire.

post 3 here starts explaining the basic of running active.... http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146726
