How much power for Type-E

How much RMS power should I feed my Type-E 12"?

I know of people who have been running 400-500+rms on their TypeRs (rated at 300rms).

Would I be alright running the Type-E on a rockford amp making 300watt rms?

What do you guys think?

Please dont criticize my choice of equipment, im just wondering if this would be a safe setup. Or if i should just use my old 200rms rockford.

Thanks

- Mike

If you already have the Rockford amp, I'd just use that. I am running 600 RMS to each of my Type R's but I don't like to really crank the gains up and the volume knob. I'm sure that 200 RMS will be enough for that one sub so there is no real need to spend more money on a new amp unless you are getting it to upgrade subs at a later time.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input. I was trying to decide between each of the following amps:

I can get the 200s for practically nothing

Alpine MRP-M350 150rms

Alpine MRV-T320 220rms

ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH 301S 300rms

ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH 201S 200rms

ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH 351S 350rms

Oh yeah, Im not getting the amp to upgrade at a later time, it will mostlikely just stay the 1 TypeE, I will be bridging all of the amps above.

Has anyone had any experience with the Alpine MRD-M300? Its on the lower end of the scale (about 150x1rms @ 4ohms) but I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this setup with the type-e.

What I really want is an MRV-T320 because 220x1rms @ 4ohms puts it where I would like to be to push my type-e, but I have yet to find it cheap enough. Anyone know where I can get a good deal on one of these? Preferably in Canada.

My other options now are

RF 200s/201s 1x200rms@ 4ohm Not so sure about this one, I dont know too much about rockford amps. The alpines seem to be more full featured, but for the price this one might be hard to beat.

or

Alpine MRP-M350 1x200rms@ 4ohm (This one the guy at the local car audio shop said would be a perfect match, but the idea of having the bass engine on board, which seems to only be a feature of the V12 amps. Although with the price im seeing its still a definite possibility.

Tell me what you guys think about these amps and maybe you can help me shorten the list again.

Thanks so much.

If price is an issue, just take the cheapest one. Is that rockford a new amp? Their new amps aren't supposed to be so great so maybe you should stay away from that one but I have no experience with them so don't take my word for it.

I thought you said that you had an old rockford 200 watt amp??? If you do, the old rockford amps are great, just use that one.

that alpine MRP-M350 is a mona amp mik. i'm pretty sure it cause i've got one and it aint got two channels. no bridging that amp. it would be a very good amp though. it makes 350 watts rms at 2 ohms(great for wiring 2 svc 4 ohm subs) although i did read that that amp really make closer to 400 watts rms. pretty cheap amp for the amount of power u get. great amp IMO.

Well my friend gas tge 200 watt rockford, i could get it off him for almost nothing. Im just not sure, because I like all of the bass engine features on the V12 especially the subsonic filter.

I know the 350 is a monoblock, but it still makes 200watts rms at 4ohms. I was trying to see if I could find the 320 cheap somewhere and bridge it because then it would make about 220rms and id have all of the bass engine features.

I guess I should probably pass on the MRD-300 because its quite a bit more expensive than i can get the rockford 200 for and it only makes 150rms even though it has all the bass engine features.

Do you guys feel that the extra features the v12s have over the vpower amps are worth the extra money?

Thanks.
