trying to get a good sense of what people throw at these (just to keep my sanity...long story). so what did YOU throw at your CMX 265's continuously? doesnt matter if you had the cmx kicks or non-kicks

please dont respond if you didnt have them running at this much power for more than a month. and if you could state how long you gave them this much power and if you had any problems, it would be greatly apprciated. thanx

running passive, i gave them 150w and now i'm running active and giving them 100w.

When I had them on my power acoustik amp giving the mids 125w with the gain set by ear, they sounded very very nice. the detail and vocals just came out at you. after checking my gains with the dmm, i was giving each mid about 50+ volts and I didn't want to blow the mids so i decided to hook them up to my jl audio amp. the jl amp gave them 150w, but the sound was different, it sounded muddy to me for some reason. i ended up picking up an mb quart amp giving my mids 100w. doesn't sound as good as the power acoustik amp with the 50+ volts but it does sound better than the jl audio amp.

50 volts????? thats like 625watts @ 4ohms....

and ryan - i know i brought this up in the other post... but if you did use -6 db's test tones.. dont.. unless maybe you're doing it at rated power (100 watts) i wouldnt even suggest -3db's... esp if you're already doubling the rated power... and even if your amp is underrated.. if it did hit a 0db note.. it doesnt leave much headroom

yeah i measured it with a 1khz test tone and it was like 54v at volume 30/35.
