How much power can a SA-12 handle?

Hey guys I'm in the market for an SA-12 and I was wondering how much power it could handle safely in a 2^3 @ 30hz?

I have an AQ1200D and don't know if I should get the D2 and wire it to 1 ohm@1200rms or get the D4 and wire it 2 ohms@870 rms.

Any suggestions?

^sorry gotta disagree i would have to go the other way and get the d2 and wire to 1ohm load. with impedence rise the sub will never see 1200rms and you benifit from the headroom.

He is going a little larger than recommended on the box though, so mechanical power handling will be lower than in the recommended 1.75ft^3 box. I'm not saying headroom is bad by any means, just trying to plan out his next upgrades. There's no reason to really need more than rated power in this case. It's up to him though.

I typically don't suggest, officially, that anyone run more than rated power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Well played, sir. Well played. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i asked him same question about same amp, he said 1200 daily is fine(obviously if ur smart about it). tho i didnt mention a box size, but i highly doubt .25 is going to drastically hurt its power handling but i am just a noob.

but i agree if u can get a 2nd one, it will be much much louder
