How much power before you hear a diff?

How much power would it take to actually hear a difference in loudness? I'm running about 1700watts right now and was thinking of getting a 2200AQ amp in its place, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it. I turn the volume up now to about 32/62 and can hear clipping, so I know I'm running out of steam. Would the extra 500watts really be audible, or would it take closer to 3000 to even be worth it? I was thinking that the extra headroom of a 3000+watt amp would alos keep me form clipping since my sub wouldn't be able to take it, and my gains could be turned down

its very likely you will hear a different, i went from a aq2200d to my rd 3250 and its a good bit louder. but thats like 1.5x the power your only going like 1.25x, but i think u will hear a difference

if your hearing clipping at 32/62 your gains are too high. turn the gains down and see if it gets louder when your able to turn the volume higher.

x2 Your deck should be able to go to 2/3-3/4 of max volume before it clips. Turn your gains down.

Also doubling power is where you will audibly notice a difference in output.
