well my current setup is 2 12" infinity perfects with a jbl 1200.1

I'm looking to upgrade to something louder (that still has nice sq like my above setup)

I was thinking dual brahmas or idmax subs

but I was just wondering how loud would just 1 15" be, or even an 18"

because they take the same power as the 10 and 12", and get louder with the same amount of power

the cone area on a 18 is 254

the cone area on a 15 is 176

the cone area on a 12 is 113

so say that I just got 1 18 " brahama and like a 1500 rms amp to power it, could that get about as loud, or louder (I would think) than 2 12" subs

some subs I would be considering is

braham, 15 or 18,

DD 9515d

idmax 16"

I know some of those aren't out, but I can wait

both 12's and 15's or even 18's will all be about the same level of loudness. But the bigger the sub, the deeper the bass. Very rarely will you find a 15 that will be over 3 db louder than a 12

In genral rule of thumb 1-15=2-12's and so on.....This is based on cone area.

Laymens term's

- "Bass" being low frequency it needs to move alot of air.

Bigger cone more air.

-A few things to note would be Actual Cone size and Stroke or Xmax. These two things can tell you how much air it can displace (or move).

-Bigger Woofer's require more air (Bigger Box)

-Most 15's like 1.5-3cuft and many 18's like 6 or more.

-What ever you do Good Luck
