How much for re-paint?

Whats up I was just wandering how much it would cost to get a '00 Ext. Cab Toyota Tacoma re-painted. I wouldn't mind that much doing it myself but my hands are really going to be tied the next couple months with other stuff. Right now there is hardly anything wrong with the paint, nothing wrong with the clearcoat...nothing...maybe a small scratch or two near the door handles where somebody was careless with the keys but thats it. Right now it's just a plain red Toyota paint...I'm looking to re-paint it gloss black or something along those lines of black.

Anybody got an estimate how much this would cost?

You should be able to get a nice Macco or Earl Shives paint job for about $500 or less....
Yes, way to try and help him out, lol!

He wants something nicer than what he already has. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

If you go Macco, which I hope you dont, it will cost well into the 1000's to get a decent job, if you are lucky!

Some will say oh my friend got the 500 dollar one and looks great. Then ask him how long he had it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Had mine done once for money purposes at Macco. Looked great for 2 months and then it started to peel away, litterally peel away. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Never went back there.

I say hit up a good local autobody shop and they should have pics of stuff they have done and then keep looking around to get the best price that looks to have quailty work.

x2 on the not going to Macco. Luckily I only had to have two pieces painted by them.

I get quotes of 1200-1500 pretty much everytime. I have a 97 Mountaineer, this quote is asking for a monotone paint job and ALOT of dings and shit to pull out.

Are you serious? Don't post comments if you have no clue about the subject. A good lasting paint job on an entire car is going to cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,000. you definitely want to find a reputable place to get it done at, so that if something happens, you can always take it back. I would personally stay away from the mom and pop shop's if you plan on moving around, since your warranty will be no good if you live like 1,000 miles away from the body shop that does your paint job.

OK...thanks for the advice.

But, I'm not really used to taking it somewhere to get it painted...usually just paint myself. But as far as I know...to get it re-painted there's not much prep involved? Not to mention that the paint job right now is fine I just want another color.

Oh yeah, there's not to many Toyota's around here...at all. Right now mine is just a 4 banger...later on down the road I'm looking to swap it out with the 3.4 V6. Anybody know a good place with the kits?
