im looking to paint my entire car since the hood, roof and trunk is fading. I will be doing all of the prep work such as sanding and priming. im only looking to remove the dents and paint the car its original color which is silver. how much should this cost?

you have to be careful doing the prep work yourself with such a touchy color as silver...all sanding has to be in same direction....let someone else do the prep and paint all in one shot...

I used to do paint and body, and I would never let someone else do anything to HELP. If I did a job I wanted to do it all. No one elses hands inlvolved...
Thats me though...

Also, depends on what kinda paint...
i neither have the skills or equipments to paint the car myself. me and my friends are just planning to sand and prime my car as a spring project. i guess im looking for the genuine paint or if its too expensive, something midgrade i guess that will last for at least 2 years

Thats cool, but idk if u will find a place that will touch it for paint after you prep it. Here locally, they wont do that. They do it all or nothing...

I was the same, I hated to be blamed for something that was fuked up on the base of it all...

one of my friends actually does body work and paint but the shop he works at is incredibly expensive. he will be educating and demonstrating how to sand and prime for us. If he had the tools in his garage, he would definitely do it at a homie's discount, but he dont.

that 249 special is a 1 stage paint that cant be wetsanded and buffed to a shine....its basically base coat and clear in the same shot....very easy and cheap but get what you pay for when it comes to painting a car.

you get what you pay for. $250 to like 10k.

pick budget and just do it.

i'd suggest letting them prep it if your not experienced. if its not right they'll either have to redo it themselves or make your car look like crap. most of its looks is based on good prep work regardless of paint used.

I agree on that...
