How much do you tip?

I don't like tipping, so I don't go to places where it is expected to tip. If I want to eat out, I get it to-go. I would rather drink at the house than in a bar.

if I do go out, then it is rounded to the nearest $5, provided that the bill is over $20.

I see tipping as "giving my money away". If they provided a service I couldn't do cheaper myself, then I would see the reason to tip. I would rather have a drink machine nd get my own food and fill my own drink than tip, but I am a cheap ***.

I would hate to live in a place where the minimum wage is $2.15/hour ... If I went somewhere knowing that they were only getting paid that much, I would definitely tip because that's way too low of a wage ...

My logic is that serves choose to work there. It isn't a command economy where people are forced into certain positions.

It depends on the service.

I had one waitress one time that was a COMPLETE *****, we're talking the definition of *****y here.I left her a quarter. . . . . . .

Then, one time there was this really nice (and pretty hot) waitress that was flurting with me, I left her a 20. Where I work, since I know the waitresses usually I'll leave $5 to the ones I like regardless of what I order (one night it was only two drinks).

I saw someone mention a "social requirement" to tip. That's because they get paid horribly.Where I work, the waitstaff is paid $2.13 an hour. The rest is tips.

if a server is really good and looks nice, i will throw in a *** offer as well. that usually gets me out of the restraunt with out even having to pay.
Yea with two cops escorting your ass out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

For food, 10% if the service sucks, 20-25% if it's good. Drinks at the bar, usually $1 a drink, unless I'm getting hooked up, then it's $2. Strippers, here's a little trick to get them to notice you, tip with $2 bills. Go to the bank and get $100 in $2 bills. The girls do notice that kind of stuff. You will notice a little extra attention once they catch on. Doesn't work in Canada though. Those sneaky canadians lowest bill is $5. Try throwing a looney or toonie (that's a $1 or $2 coin for those of you who don't know) at a stripper they will most likely kick you in the nuts!

It all depends... usually around 15% or so, but if it's a place I go often, or I get great service, then 20% or more.

Last week I went to a restaurant with my girl, we hadn't seen each other for almost a week, so we were having fun, drinking and catching up, and the waitress apparently thought she was neglecting our table (we didn't even notice), and took some of our drinks off the bill. I thought that was great, cuz we didn't complain, or even notice that she wasn't around, so I left her $20 on a $90 bill.

I'm assuming that was $90 Canadian.

$90 Canadian = $80 US
holy crap, the exchange rate has changed a little bit since the last time I was there.

and holy crap 80 bucks for a meal? I'd have to drive 2 hours before I could find a place that would cost that much.
