How Much Deadener?

Would it take, roughly, to kill the entire trunk of an 04 Jetta do ya think?

Also - should I just do Damplifier and coat it around or should I do some kind of system with sludge and damplifier and all that?

Help?

I want it done right, but I'm only going to do the regular Damplifier on the inside of the doors, only the trunk is getting the super-special treatment if necessary

Opinions? Advice?

With 20' you could do half the trunk. It took 20' to do all of my trunk lid (03 Neon, similar trunk size). You would need approximately 45-60 for a real good coating. If you are going to kill the trunk, you will want to also do a layer of sludge or spectrum over the top of the mat. On top of that, throw down some acoustic dampening pad on the floor. That will kill most anything inside the trunk... then you should think about the rattles happening inside the cabin. Remember, the more you deaden, the more rattles you will find.

How is it I'll find more rattles? I'll do a layer behind the license plate as well as around anything external I find that's rattling but...

I see, I'm just going to apply a layer of Second Skin Damplifier - I'm gonna buy 20 sq ft and see if that's enough, hopefully it will be

I'm also gonna put some behidn the license plate

HOPEFULLY nothing else rattles and if it does - I'll use excess or buy some more to fix it

I don't think it's worth it to Damplify it and then do sludge over the top of it, I just dont watn the joker to rattle and add a little bit of sound to it, not in comps here :)

Gotcha. This is what you need to do. Isolate where all the rattles are coming from using a long flexible tube with one end at your ear the other end sniffing out the rattling noises. When you find rattling from bass tones, banging on the car (with the help of a friend), or while driving (also with the help of a friend) use the deadener liberally in that area. Test it after you've applied the deadener. As for the license plate, you should use some 3M super 90 adhesive (for the plate) and a small sheet of 1/4" closed cell foam. Personally it works better than deadener does. Also, you will want to pull out the rear deck carpet and put some rattle pad under there. I've noticed in some of the installs I've done the Jetta doesn't have a very good back deck cover. I wonder if Ant has done any Jettas lately.

Oh ANT!!! Where you at boy?

I just got 2 Gallons of eDead v3 and I am going to put all of it in my trunk I hope it will kill all of my ratels I have 2 kicker L7 12 in a mustang
