How Long Will it Last (Wall Socket)HDC3

you probably got around 2k or so to it

120v

~15amps (you were most likely pulling more but im guessing it was on a 15 amp breaker and it didnt trip which it should have if you were getting more.)

120*15=1800

i couldn't see house wiring carrying more than 10-15 amps per outlet w/ out some serious voltage drop.

voltage was probably dropping pretty low(for 120v anyway)

if it was @ 2 ohms i'd say it was around 2-3kw

So the way to tell is to do this with a voltmeter hooked up to be sure of actual voltage being delivered to the sub? I wish I knew a really safe way to do this... I've got a pair of 10s and a pair of 12s laying around I can't unload...

I live in a rental home with no exposed wiring, so... don't want to risk any damage. Of course, I'd LOVE to hook one of 'em up to a 220V like my dryer runs on.... HMMMMMMM....

well, really you need a clamp meter and a dmm..to measure the current and the voltage at the sub... because we don't really know what the apparent impedance will be, until its measured.

Bah.... never mind, too much hassle. Still wish there was a good way for me to do this, I'd hammer a couple of those batchles into the ground. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

get a multi socket surge protector without the protection

2 10 craftsman meters from sears

1 in the hot and neutral socket and then your clamp meter on the pos/hot lead.

also a breaker should blow before you start melting wire

I don't have a clamp meter, and from my understanding, they're not cheap at all.

However, counting on a breaker which SHOULD blow when it's not my house, but my landlord's.... not wise, IMO. lol
