Well, you are wrong. If you spent any time in the industry at all before giving worthless advice you'd know Jeep Cherokees are notorious for broken speaker wires in the factory rubber door boot. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen it I wouldn't have to waste my life correcting worthless people like you. To the original poster: Unfortunately you're original thoughts were correct. You'll need to run a new wire through the door boot. I'm not going to lie, it sucks to do, but it can be done. Take the door panel off and use a coat hanger or antenna to fish a wire through the door boot. Take off the kickpanel, and grab it from above.

It's not as easy as it sounds, but I've done it many times.

BTW, Chrysler factory amplifiers don't just "drop channels" They either work, or they don't. End of story so don't chase your tail trying that. Also, 9V batteries are good way to ruin perfectly good factory speakers and tweeters, always use a 1.5 volt cell.

I ran wire into the doors for the woofer in my component set, and I didn't need anything except the wire. I put it in the rubber boot from the inside, and just pushed it in. That boot is huge.

i wish i could.... that dash is soo tight. i think the bundle of wires near the dash are for something else. the wires behind the hu look like they go up and straight accross. because there's soo many freaken screws in the panel and everything overlaps i dread big time trying to pull the dash out. it's real tight. kinda like an elephants dick in a gnats aSss...

how in the hell do you rerun wire to the doors in a 1998 jeep cherekee? do i have to take out the whole dash? here's my problem. i talked this female into buying some coaxils in her ride because the speakers were blown. i hooked up the new speakers and got zero sound from the front right. made sure there wasn't a bad connection on the speaker. everything fine there. i know this jeep sat out in the yard for almost a year. maybe the wires dry rotted. they don't look that way. for sure the right front needs new wire. i haven't really got in there and took a look but i know the dash looks real tight. anybody own a jeep cherekee. this fvcker sux. i've never taken this long to put in some shitty coaxils.

NO. Run both wires to the center of the dash. From there go up to where I posted the picture. To the right of the dash is an always dark black space. This is a dummy unit.

for sure...you want to replace the least amount as possible.

Whoopty doo, I haven't worked on a ton of Jeep Cherokees.

I've been helping this guy go through a simple trouble shooting process, starting with simple questions first. It's called problem solving...

I haven't spent much time as a piss-on daily installer, most of my time has been focused on custom designed installs, high end fabrication, as well as more concentration on enclosure design and such.

So, if you feel the need to insult and troll... just because I haven't wasted my life installing on countless jeeps... then leave.

lol 3/4 of ours broke down at one time....the engines are good engines just wiring and shit always goes wrong in them. I had 2 myself that had some kind of wiring problems i tried to fix foreverrrrr...crank sensors and everything..finally gave up and sold them
