How In The Hell!!!!

Well, I highly doubt it's the wiring man...
It's either factory amp, or the deck amp...

Try popping the speaker with a 9V battery at the wire by the deck...

I was just ****in with ya bro. But yeah this works, just gives the speaker a pulse instead of a tune and making it pop in or out depending on how its wired and stay while on the battery. Interestin shit I learned from this site.

The wires are bad.

This is a very common problem with the Cherokee. Inside the rubber boot from the door to the body is where the wires fatigue over time and stress fracture.

Run a continuity test between the HU and the speaker to double check.

do i have to take out the whole dash? i tried just pulling the glove box panel out to get to the grommet to the door. the bundle of wires not far from the glove box doesn't go to the hu. looks likr the hu wires run up and straight across. fvck jeep. there's a million screws in the panels. no pop and pull gotta unscrew everything. poor design!!!!

i did that last night. the hu and speaker are fine. i just need to figure out how to run new wire to the right door....

omg. its very simple.

All you have to take off is the bezel that surrounds the HU. Thats all.

At the very right of this picture, to the right of the gauges, is a black face where lights normally go. If you take off the bezel, you'll see this unit. It is empty. There is enough room to go from BEHIND this unit down to below the dash.

Well, is it grounded out... or are the wires completely broke.
What I'd do, is tie/tape a new set of wires to the existing ones... near the glove box...

Then pull them through from the door...

The wires just break inside the casing; No grounding out.

If the jeep doesn't have factory electrics in the doors, then that 2" diameter rubber boot is completely empty. Not a problem to get wire through there. Did it on my Cherokee.

Well, you are wrong. If you spent any time in the industry at all before giving worthless advice you'd know Jeep Cherokees are notorious for broken speaker wires in the factory rubber door boot. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen it I wouldn't have to waste my life correcting worthless people like you.

To the original poster: Unfortunately you're original thoughts were correct. You'll need to run a new wire through the door boot. I'm not going to lie, it sucks to do, but it can be done. Take the door panel off and use a coat hanger or antenna to fish a wire through the door boot. Take off the kickpanel, and grab it from above.

It's not as easy as it sounds, but I've done it many times.

BTW, Chrysler factory amplifiers don't just "drop channels" They either work, or they don't. End of story so don't chase your tail trying that. Also, 9V batteries are good way to ruin perfectly good factory speakers and tweeters, always use a 1.5 volt cell.

Good luck!

i wish i could.... that dash is soo tight. i think the bundle of wires near the dash are for something else. the wires behind the hu look like they go up and straight accross. because there's soo many freaken screws in the panel and everything overlaps i dread big time trying to pull the dash out. it's real tight. kinda like an elephants dick in a gnats aSss...
