how high do you guys turn up the volume for a demo?

Explain why I am an idiot. please.
1) The guy you quoted was blatantly not serious about his post.

2) Too much gain doesn't blow speakers -- too much power blows speakers.

3) Adding any extra boosting or EQ boost to the signal to the amp will have the same effect as turning the gain up too far for the input voltage you're sending it. So sliding the bass slider does the same thing as increasing the gain but it will **** up the frequency response. So basically, you are ****ing up harder than setting your gain too high in the first place.

I turn it up to were I have my gains set. On the Eclipse deck that's at 60. I have an 8053 btw, which is for sale //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
That's news to me, how do i exactly do that? Is this another way of saying, turn the volume up 3/4 of the way up and then set/tune the gains from there? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

that's correct, set the volume level at 3/4 if you like to demo at that level.. and then set the gains when the volume level is at 3/4.. Then you can use the system wherever from nothing to 3/4 of max volume level, dont go over..

But I got a question myself also.. I set my volume level at halfway and set the gains there also.. But my bass level is only +2 db out of possible +10 db.. I m wondering can I turn up the bass level when the volume is still at halfway? will that hurt the amp which means I have to set the gains when the bass is at +10db? or that wont be required?

That's the way to do it, leave some headroom in the HU for those times you run across a song that's recorded very low. I set gains at 28 out of 34max and will go to 30 on a few songs that are too **** quiet.

Cranking up the bass boost, etc... just means you need more wooferage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I set mine at 28/35, leaves a bit of head room for quieter tracks, or loud parts I know my stuff can handle.

I'm finding though, wth the warmer weather, my speakers can get a bit louder before hurting. It might just be a change in setting I forgot I did.
