How far away can you hear your system...

vids of said people feeling it. and details of system or GTFO!!
im calling BS now.
I've been told by my parents that I can be heard from the exit to the FM road that leads to the CR they live on. It's 2.5m on the road. 2m as the crow flies. They hear me and have movement inside their 3600 sq. ft house.

2 12's.

I say he's legit.

FYI, sound travels farther over water.

Not sure how far our old van could be heard, but I have had friends on ULM call and ask "hey, where you just playing the van, because I was in class and I could hear the windows buzzing"..

The shop is at the marker...they where in this building (at the end of the red line)

Campus Police station is the blue circle. We have a great relationship w/ them at the shop. Some of the officers have actually sat in the van...lol.

"In common everyday speech, speed of sound refers to the speed of sound waves in air. However, the speed of sound varies from substance to substance. Sound travels faster in liquids and non-porous solids than it does in air. It travels about 4.3 times faster in water (1,484 m/s), and nearly 15 times as fast in iron (5,120 m/s), than in air at 20 degrees Celsius."

Refraction of Sound Waves

Thus, you can hear sound further 'over water' than 'over land'.

If you have ever been on a lake fishing, you will realize that you can hear people talking (at a normal voice) FAR farther than you can over land. The the water and water's surface helps to refract the sound and help it propagate farther than your would see in a similar 'over land' scenario.

Also, it is easier to carry energy over high freq vs low freq.

Why do you thing radio stations switched to FM over AM?

check...and mate.

ahh this was no competition. Im well aware about the properties of water and high frequencies. What im saying is you dont have many cars with HLCD drivers, and you dont here every many car with the ability to project frequencies over such a distance.

I would say probably a 1/2 mile pretty easy, maybe farther depending on the terrain, ohio is pretty flat so it will be pretty far, I could always hear Phoenix_Risen for a good 10 minutes prior to him pulling in.

Im told my lows carry 3-4 miles on full tilt, but i live in a very peaceful country area so theres nothing to drown it out like city. Not sure about the mids and highs, theyre in progress. I know last 4th of july i was wanging it coming into town and had turned it down probably a good mile before a road block and the cops there still got on my *** when i pulled up to them after looking in the car, lol.

I also hear my engine can be heard a good ways away. Its not really loud, but sounds beautiful. 468 stroked big block olds just sings through the 3" true duals and flowmaster 40s
