How far away can you hear your system...

surprisingly we had people tell us to turn it up last night after the xmas parade, they then asked us to play some country music and all started dancing on the dock haha

back when i had 4-12's in the backseat of my 1980 regal - my coworkers told me that every day they could hear me when i reached the off ramp... they were inside the printing plant shown below.

once i hit the parking lot i rattled the lay-in ceilings inside the office area. i was written up several times for that. even the vice president asked me to turn it down because the buzzing ceiling tiles interrupted his "important" meetings.

that car was easily audible at over a 1/2 mile. i was often told when i visited someone's house they heard me a full 2 minutes before i arrived, consistently. i often rolled down the windows and played to field parties.

ah, to be young in the 90's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

with my subsequent vehicles i try to minimize how much makes it out. in my Accord the vents in my kicks let out some midrange, but my IB wall results in cancellation outside the car so outside bass is minimal - which is the idea - my city can fine you $500 and impound your car for an audible sound system.

ha thats pretty crazy. But, could they sing a long to the song haha... we have had people tell us they could hear us on different lakes =P .... good thing the "bass knob" actually controls the speakers on the tower so its never really on unless we are riding...

a good friend of mine has his own business - doing sound reinforcement with his own line of horn loaded speakers.

This was some initial testing of one array of four MPT-48's outside in the country. We had a friend on the phone over two miles away, across a cornfield, and through a mile of woods. We could clearly hear our voices back through the phone about 10 seconds later.

his stuff is amazing - coherent point source horn arrays. he uses higher end B&C speakers now.

water is a nice reflecting plane - sound travels across water with less attenuation compared to land.
