Well, what do you expect from a computer programmer? I mean the whole thing just works on the fact that the answer is always divisible by 9...why, you ask?

XY - (X + Y)

= 10X + Y - (X + Y)

= 10X + Y - X - Y

= 10X - X

= 9X, or the multiple of 9 that's in the 10s place value

You don't even have to know math, just think about it.
