How does this look for a ground spot?!

I just installed my ground wires a few weeks ago to a spot that I had thought would work out great, now I am not sure. I really don't know a ton about the body vs. the frame or chassis of a vehicle. The bolt I chose to use is one that holds down the seat back (as you can see in the pic).

Does this look like a legit ground location to you guys???

Let me know what you think

naw it doesn't move at all, I can get a pic of it tightened down all the way. I went at it with a 12" ratchet and get it as tight as I could, hoping that the terminals would push down in to the gap a bit. The wires are soldered in to the cup terminals also.

But no, definitely NO movement.

@caprice, Would that cause any sort of issues with having two ground locations that close to eachother? such as group loops and noise?

I would cover that bare metal with some paint or silicone or something to keep the moisture off. That wouldnt be a good spot to rust out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But other than that, it should be ok. Maybe not the best, but if it works, great.

I can def sand down the paint a bit better and the bracket as well, would it be best to sand both the top and bottom of the bracket?

Why would sanding down to the bare metal on the bracket help? I am not questioning you, I am just trying to learn as much as I can.

I was mostly worried about this location not being able to handle the current that I will be sending through it once everything is hooked up.

@caprice, I may just use both bolts because they are stuffed in there for sure and having one on each bolt would make it less crowded, and possibly help with the load distrobution.

Would any kind of paint work for this? But yea this is def not a spot where I would want rust to start forming.

Any suggestions on what might be a better ground spot in the rear of a jeep grand cherokee? maybe from a seat belt bolt or something?

I'm guessing any kind of spray paint or just something to keep moisture off of the bare metal will work. I dont know too much about the moisture resistance of different paints. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Sorry I cant be of more help, I just know I wouldnt want rust forming there... lol You should be fine where the ground is. I've always just used factory bolts that were close to where I needed the ground. Has always worked for me.

IMO, sanding the bracket isnt needed. I mean it cant hurt, but you're ground is the vehicle itself.. the bracket just hold the terminal to the ground location.
Thats kinda the line of thought I had, but yea it prob can't hurt anything.

I'd just look at wally world or whatever for some Rustoleum outdoors paint... Should work just fine. You shouldnt have much moisture at that ground location, but its better to be safe than sorry. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
