I'd look into a 6600: $107

HD: Maybe lil larger? They're pretty cheap...

Stock powersupply in a decent case would work. At least 450-500w.

I would go with at least a 6600GT or X800 ... 6600 doesn't cut it for serious gaming ...
I think the 256/256 version of the 6600 works great. With a solid processor to back it up, and a gig of ram, all games out would run perfect on it. It's not like you're gonna build a $700 compy that will run al games at max res. and setting...

well, ECS and Patriot are not generic brands, the x800 is only 139 and has 12 pipelines and a 256 bit interface same as 6800gt except little lower memory clock speed for 120 bucks less, i already have a dvd burner, in my pc right now i only have 80 gig hd and i still have 30 gigs left, i read nothing but good reviews on the rosewill power supply, and keep in mind i had to keep this thing cheap so i think its all worth it for my uses. and my friend has a ti420064mb, 768 mb ram, and a athlon xp 2400 and plays hl2 fine and medium settings so i think ill be ok.

My rig:

Thermaltake case & 500W power supply

1 Gig kingston ram

EVGA Nvidia 6600gt

DFI Mobo

Amd64 3000+

dual 300 gig WD HD's SATA

Samsung DVDrom and DVDRW SATA

creative audigy 4 sound card(im really into my sound)

It tears through all thing i through at it, even though its a socket 754, HL2 runs awsome, as well as doom 3, and all my sound/photo editing programs scream, and autocad works great too

i would say go for it, But yes, ECS is a generic brand, they are always ALOT cheaper than the other products with the same features...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

But with the money you save on generic brands you can replace things if they break and if they dont...youll have some extra cash.

But if you only listen to one thing we say, at least get a quality P/S and case, nothing worse that a cheap case thats fallin apart all over, and i went through the cheap power supply phase and regreted it. I put all of my stuff together and nothing was working, and it turns out my POS powere supply was DOA

the only thing im gonna be overclocking is my video card, cuz i have no clue how to oc the processor and dont wanna spend money to replace it if i screw up. and if i do have heat problems with the vid card i can just get a pci slot fan.
