How does this first system look?

There are few 5 channel amps that will give enough output on the sub channel for an SPL install.

Pick up a decent 4 channel for $200, then a 1000 watt class D for around $300.

Way way out of my price range. As you could see I am trying to get a sub and amp totaling around $350-400. Do I even need to power my speakers through an amp? Couldn't I just buy a mono amp and run that all to my sub and use the HU to power all 4 speakers?

I thought it would be 420 watts since the sub is a DVC, which I thought would mean 210 to each voice coil, totaling 420 watts...

Anyone else? I'd love to get a system ordered asap...

If you'd like, please select a whole system for me totaling around $700. Factor in the cost of the JVC HU (I want to keep this head unit b/c it has a front aux input for my iPod), and you end up with $570 available to you to spend on a pair of front speakers, one (two?) sub(s), and an (two?) amp(s). If it matters, I already bought a 4 gauge amp kit from Knuconceptz.

How about just getting one Type R sub and running a mono amp to it that could push the type R? I would then let the HU run all of the speakers?

if your on a budget, go to ikesound.com , there you have the choice of many differnt refurbished amps that will save you money. I think there is like a directed 600w mono amp. That would be good alongside that alpine r, if you get a dual 2 ohm version of the sub which can also be found on their website for like 130 shipped.

2) Can I use the wiring I already purchased from knuconceptz (4 gauge amp kit) to power a mono amp?

LOL. Just because a sub is a dual voice coil means nothing. How is that going to change the output of the amp? If the amp is rated to produce 210 watts at a given ohm level. Then that's it. It is only going to do it's rated power at that ohm lvl.

I was thinking that it would total 420 watts since each voice coil would be receiving 210 watts? (Voice Coil A + Voice Coil B = X Watts, 210 Watts + 210 Watts = 420 watts?)

Anyway, should I just get an amp that puts out about 1000 watts @ 2 ohms and run that to a Type R? What impedance should I get if I was looking to run it at 2 ohms? Thanks.
