How do you secure kickpanels/doorpods?

Do people use screws or what? If so, wouldn't it be kind of hard to do that with kickpanels since you'd be drilling through the car in the process? And how is it that I never see any screws showing in the install? Screw it down from the inside first, then mount the speaker? Just curious because I'm gonna make some for me one of these days. . .

Not really. It's not like you'd drill through the floor or fenders or anything. Most cars have some structural metal in the kickpanel area that you can secure to without having the screws visible from outside the vehicle, and they aren't exposed to the elements.

Likewise, some people simply build the kickpanels right onto the trim of the vehicle. So the fasteners holding down the trim, obviously, also secure the kickpanel since they are bonded together.

Yup.

i secured my doorpods by adhering it directly t the door with resin and the fiberglass. i didnt really care about the car though because it has 170k on it and will die soon newho so i have no worries of resale.

thats what I did...works great.

try out some of the new gorilla glue tape...i want to see how sticky it is
Don't hold your breath. . . I probably wont start on these for another month or so. But ****, I didn't know gorilla glue had tape. That's gotta be some strong stuff.

for kicks I make sure it has a piece of metal behind it and screw it to that. If one is not available and its a kick I will tack one on before I glass the back. as for doors, yes screws because I use MDF bases for the speakers.
