How do you packing subs for shipping?

get a cardboard box about an inch larger than the whole dimension of the sub if possible. Get styrofoam sheets....(craft store...cheap), and line the 4 sides w/ it.

Then put a piece on bottom, put bubblewrapped sub/s in there, and cover it/them w/ another piece of foam. Perfectly protected and packed.

Build a crate and or double box it. And insure it. I just bought an amp off this board and it arrived damaged, broke a cooling fin off a jl 300/4. No ins and the seller is being less than helpful settling the matter. Dont go through all that aggravation.

I would get large bubble wrap and do at least one (more like 2 wraps around the sub, tape it, get a box from somewhere and check the rating on the bottom (should have a 200lb burst capacity in my opinion. If you can find a location that has a versapacker system, USE IT (foam in bag, whatever you have locally). I would say cardboard over the actual sub to protect it from stupid handlers.

Versapacker FTMFW!

The only sub ive shipped, I used a super heavy duty cardboard box used to ship 100lb hydraulic motors... I put 2 layers of cardboard across the cone, taped to the motor, then it was wrapped in celophane to ensure that packing peanuts didnt get in... then it was put around some sort of special packing paper they use in my dad's office. When he got it it was safe and sound. It was a 12" SX

Best thing IMO is to get a piece of hardboard, some thick spacers, and bolt it to the hardboard using the spacers. Then bubble wrap. Then either packing peanuts, foam or a lot more bubble wrap. Then a double-walled box. Double boxing is optional and a good idea.
