how do you measure a flared port

Ok I am doing flared ports they say 10.8 in do you mesure the hole thing or just the tube not the flares

if its a precision port, it tells you how in the instructions. The true flare is not counted which is usually 1inch on each end (2 inches total). So I'm guessing your port length is 8.8inches

Just use the port calculator, it seems pretty accurate.

in a flare... you measure from the middle of the flare... if you had a port that was 10" deep before a flare and the flare was 4" tall... then you would have a 12" port

For example, if you had a 4 cubic foot box with two flared ports (4 inch diameter each), and you wanted lets say... a tuning frequency of 32Hz, then the total flared port length required is 14.61" long, you would need to measure from half way down the flared end of the tube, to it's end. You could divide 14.61" in half, so you would need to cut each peice 7.305" long. Just be sure to make sure that each cubic foot has at least 12-16 square inches of port area. This can be done by multiplying pi by the square of the radius and dividing by the number of cubic feet of the box.
