how do u ship rims?

There has to be an easier way and cheaper than shipping them UPS individually.. I couldnt imagine trying to ship mine individually.. It cost me 40 bucks to ship a 9515.. No telling how much just one rim would cost..

my point exactly so i'm hoping someone who has shipped rims before will chime in.

a giant oversized box which would likely have to be freight or individual boxes thats how it works sorry and its not going to be cheap no matter how you look at it 1 20 inch rim weighs roughly 30 pounds 30 x4 =120 pounds thats alot

Use fedex and layer the faces of the rims with cardboard and tape and just make sure the faces are secure the tires should be fine and it won't be cheap I paid 145 from southern ca to northern ca

And they were 18's with tires

well i bought these rims for the cheaps and i'm looking to get 1200 for them....aren't their trucking companies that do this kinda stuff when they have to return home or go another place w/o a load?

When I got my rims from TireRack via UPS ground, they we're just wrapped together with some of those plastic straps in pairs of two. The tire portion of wheel/tire combo wasn't even covered... I mean think about it, a 3000 pound car is going to be driving on it for 25K miles, I don't think that needs to be covered. Just make sure you use some foam + cardboard on the face of the rim so it doesn't get scuffed or nicked. Now if you're shipping the wheel ONLY, I suggest doing the same thing but adding padding around the bead of the rim, maybe pool noodles cut and stuck to the edges and then put that in a box.

i've shipped rims before with both fedex and ups, ~$50/rim. that's just shipping cost not including cost of packing. I learned the next go around to go to a local rim shop and ask if they have any extra rim boxes that they are going to throw out. they even threw in the styrofoam rim covers for shipping.

greyhound, they stick it in the luggage compartment, people ship transmissions and shit, honestly $40 isnt bad, i I get rims off the internet most of the time they come from cali, so coast to coast is $100
how do i get more details about this?
