How do u measure slot port displacement?

Do u just count the displacement of the wood used on the side or do I measure the lenth height and width and come up with a cf number. Thanks to any one who can clear this up for me

The air inside the port does not count as air inside the box. You have to calculate the air inside the port as well as the volume occupied by the wood making the wall of the port and subtract that from the internal volume of the enclosure.

I am planning on building a box from my spec sheet which says Vbox=1.75 ft^3 and it shows the port inside of this box. Would I need to add extra room in the ox for the port or does the Vbox include the space needed for the port?
