how do these rank up?

how does being efficient effect how a system sounds? less power is needed or what? never understand how a sub is more or less efficient.
more power is needed for low efficiency, although there is a trade off. Higher efficiency = not so good in the low department. Low efficiency = get lower.

In theory: higher efficiency = louder on the same power

But once a lot of power gets applied the lines get a little blurred. There's always a trade-off, and generally more efficient woofers have a higher fs(because of the lower moving mass(mms), which makes them more efficient). It all goes round and round, everything affects something.

well im just tryin for this to be a monsterous lows setup. ima be doin C&S music all day and i want it to drop as low as i can possibly make it. and TO AN EXTENT as far as i know, some xmax is needed. but like i said ima get a pwk design and tell him what i wanna achieve and supposingly he can design badass boxes.

Much better for the money.
Just curious as to what you have in mind? I'm always interested in low distortion woofers capable of playing 20-65hz...point me in some direction I might not have thought of before. I'm thinking about trying one of the new Stryke/AE/whateverthey'recallednow woofers.

And a PWK design = fial.
For the money spent, indeed.

Means you need more power for the same output.

LMS coils are inefficient from a conventional standpoint, but

LMS woofers will hit the brown note and the TC basket and soft 10" suspension allows a lot of travel down low.

I wouldn't plan to throw more than 1kw per sub at these 3" LMS coils for too long. They'll take more, but will start to smell funny. The price on these is outstanding IMO. Don't expect to do anything amazing on a meter, but if you want to play linear down to 20hz these will get you there.

Here's another option if you're looking for a low tuning: DIYCable.com : Intro » Home » Exodus Subwoofers »
I'm using their mids. They build a quality driver and XBL^2 is similar to LMS coil (similar function anyway) where you don't lose a lot of motor force at high excursion. Also a good option if you want to go low.

IMO the TC basket and suspension is supperior to that of the exodus.
