How do I put a grill on this?

The stock grill is quite restrictive. I am trying to figure out what the best way will be to make it less restrictive. I originally thought about just cutting a hole and mounting a grill to the door skin. Well, this has proven to me more difficult than it sounds. The OD of the grill has to be exactly 6" for that idea to work. All of the ones I am finding are either 5.5 or 6.5-7" OD. Any other ideas? Is there a way to cover is with some type of material if I just cut a 6" hole? Feel free to shoot me any ideas you have. Thanks!

oh kay so im pretty sure my ex girl friend from 3 years ago cheated on me for 3 months while wither her. I finally confronted her with this and she now hates me for good... i might have said ***** **** and i hate you multipple times. then i talked to my cousin who said it was perfecly fine for that out burst of emotion. But i havnt talked to **** ***** ***** in atleast a year. was it completely reasonable for me to get her kicked out of the bar tonigh>?

if you already have a stock grill why do you want to use another grill?

those stock plastic grills are indeed restrictive - those thick plastic hexagon patterns destroy off axis response, but it's just as restrictive mounting the speaker so far back.

I think you'd need to get the speaker closer to the door panel to see much of a benefit removing the grills. The tough part is cutting them out in a perfect circle. Parts Express sells speaker grills, you could buy an 8" and make a perfect match yourself.

This has a large enough trim ring that it could maybe look decent if properly applied - flush with the factory door and painted to match.
