Ported will have more output. Just about any box you find online or at best buy, etc is a prefab. You want a custom built box to your subs recommendations to get the most out of your subs without damaging them.

prefab, cookie cutter, premade, mass produced, aka china factory boxes with china quality wood. You'd always want a box designed to maximize the loudness and performance out of your subwoofer. The difference between a prefab and a custom box would be, prefab would shake your rearview mirror a little bit, Custom would make it fall and would also rattle your car apart. dont let me get started on the sound quality comparisons @_@. http://www.caraudio.com/forums/high-output-enclosures/535560-high-output-enclosures-picture-log.html look around in this thread, you'll see what a real enclosure should look like.
ThatChevyGuy suggested a 15 which would be facing up here's an example of a 500 rms 15 inch sub in a custom enclosure facing up, it takes as much space as 2 12s

But guys do I need them? Isn't it wicked hard to make your own box? I'm not as excited to do that as I said I don't have the space to build my own box. Will the ported box deliver louder bass in comparison to my 1 polk sub? Because I'm pretty impressed with it right now nd that's prefab nd ported. I know you guys want to give me the fullest potential for my sub(s) but I don't think it's gonna be convenient.
I'm not trying to blow my doors off the car but just wanted to know if I could use those subs with my amp and if they will sound better then my previous setup. Thanks for the fast replies again btw.

i'd say just keep your current amp and sub unless you really really REALLY crave for a ton more bass. Little upgrades like this arent really worth your money.

you might want to put that money into sound deadening instead, it'll make your current bass output a little bit louder and reduce your rattles.
i cant stand the sound of a prefab ported box. Once you hear a proper box, you will never go back

Wow that looks nice, the price is good too. How do you know they are going to sound better?
I have a set of boston gt love them. Get low. Plus is ported vs sealed

Would they sound maybe twice as loud as my one 12" I have now?
They will be lost based on the fact you are getting twice the cone area. It's a solid box and on budget pretty impossible to beat

It looks like boston acoustics isnt even making car subs anymore. I think I'm going to go with the MTX RTL12X2D 1000W Max, Dual 12" RTL Series Loaded Sub Enclosure
