Just wondering how the hell do you know if it's clipping? Is there a sound that goes with it or something.

Please don't flame me i'm trying to learn this technical stuff.

What made me really think about this is I was listening to my woofers with the trunk open, and on a certain low note it was making this "farting" noise so i immediately turned it down.

Thanks.

thats probably them bottoming out. Ported or sealed? You may need to turn the gain down a tad and see if that helps, and check your subsonic filter.
Sealed, sorry just added specs to my sig as you responded //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Please excuse my newb ?'s but what is the subsonic filter?

its a panel air filter located inside the box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

turn the gain down some dude. Id say theyre bottoming out since you said its sealed and you wont need to use the SS filter. All that does is cut out frequencies below your tuning frequency in a ported setup to avoid sub damage
Even if he is using a sealed enclosure, it's not like all woofers would like to play a really really low note.

hmmm, I am ordering a aq1200 and from what I read that comes with a clipping indicator, so I guess that will take care of that.

As far as my speakers possibly bottoming out, I didn't think that would be possible in a sealed box. This box is 2.50 cubes for the pair and according to jl's specs that is what they want. But again, i'm here to learn up on this stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'm sorry...i just see his subs walking around his car holding up picket signs saying "we're on strike"
lol...... How about reaching their physical limits with regards to excursion @ 25 Hz?

Now I am going to blow the OP's mind by telling him that it is possible to bottom out the subwoofers WITHOUT clipping the amp;)
