i simply was over powering a hdc12 with a zx2500 and i think i blew a coil. becuase 1st, i was pounding, than it got really low, like it was hardly hitting and i could hear something rattle. it sounded like a strainer from a snare drum. th an it eventually stop workin. how can i b sure its my sub and not the amp. the amp has a grn light so i figured the sub just needs to b reconed

mulitmeter... do an ohm reading on the coils. For the record though, I would guess clipping was the issue, not overpowering. I fed my HDC315 almost 4Kw daily for months with no issues other than a little warm smell after a long night of cruising.

example on my D2 subwoofer:

Usually it just gives really outrageous readings.
yeah, when I blew one of mine a couple years ago I think it was reading in the hundreds or something... I just remember I was like "how will I know if it is blown" then when I hooked the meter u I was like. "HOLY SHIT! that is blown for sure LOL)
