Agree to Cardboard+tape (i meant cardboard by itself might not work)shit , its rains all the time down here. i used a smaller strip of cardboard , covered in duct tape and stuck that on the bottom of the plate. you just have to make sure you have tape with a good adheasive or it will fall off in moisture.
So why cant you just use sound deadening on the back of the plate where it isnt visible? I did it on a friends. Just lay the plate on some deadening on a block of wood. Cut around the plate, apply, screw onto car.
or just put the license plate inside the car on the back window.How about you turn down your radio?

1. Get foam - anything - a noodle, packaging, styrofoam, backpacking sleeping pad. You don't need much.
2. Insert behind plate.
3. There is no step three. It's that simple/
