how did you choose your career?

I love my job, but I would hardly call it a career. I just cant see myself doing my sort of work at the age of 45+, but who knows

I agree with doing what makes you happy even if it doesnt make you rich. As long as you dont stress about money its all good

I picked mine by seeing what my parents do, where they came from and where they are at now, and deiceded to get a job there. love my job and get paid pretty decent... plenty of oppertunities(sp) for advancement and GREAT benifits... that and I never (well practially) have to worry about getting laid off.
what do you do?

Well my career has just begun but i know I will love it
Im half draftsman/engineer

I work right now in a gas plant and the money is great:greedy:

but I really realyl enjoy my job. We get alot done and we have alot of fun.

I get to work in the office 70% of the time and the other 30 is divided into working in the field, making plans, and mettings

I really love planning projects ,seeing them being built, and knowing they will be there for a long time.

Its a great feeling.

Im not a full blown engineer but I wouldnt want to be. The money is better but those guys are always stressed and have deadlines.
what kinda classes did you have to take?

internships and co-op ftw
whats co-op?

my question is for those that have graduated from college, and now pursued a career. while you were attending school what made you choose the career you did? was it someone elses input? what helped you with the decision? are you happy with your job right now, or do some of you wish you had went down another road?
I chose my hobby as a career.

I am on my 2nd career, my1st as an industrial maintenance tech was a logical move ,strong technical background and natural nack for turning wrenches and troubleshooting.

2nd go around was strictly motivated by my need to be self employed, and not be a slave to my job. Have the ability to put my family first and have the freedom to spend time with my son on the weekend without having to request it 3 weeks in advance.

what do you do?

As said before, when we first moved down in flroida we were living in a RV for about 8 months, then they rented a house, and later bought there own nice house. Now they have completly redone the house from roof to floor.. I mean EVERYTHING the way they wanted it and what they wanted. They had to work very hard for it and start from the bottom. but thats what they did, and now they are sitting pretty and have a decent retirement to fall on after they stop working //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

PS They also offer a kick asss retiremnt option //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
