how can you tell if subs are broke

my friend sold me 2 15comp vr with out a box for $40. he had them sealed and said and the left chamber of the box had a air leak. he fixed the box and put new subs in. we cant tell what sub was on the leaky side now that they are out of the box and if it would matter. cosmetically both subs look the same . is there a way to tell if the sub was damaged because i would like to have a box made for both but dont want to spend the money if 1 sub is damaged. any help is appreciated

Digital Multimeter (DMM), it will give you a resistance reading on the coils and if they differ from what the manufacturer states it should be then there is a problem.
