How big an alternator

Yea but you should know that even a 4000wrms amplifier is not going to pull anywhere near 4kW most of the time. He can turn it up with a 200A alternator and proper battery and be fine I believe.

i know that, but it's still good to have the headroom, especially if he is like me and listen's to test tones for the hell of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have a 240 amp alt and yellow top up front and 2 svr80 running 3200rms on full tilt on a burp with bright lights and ac on my batts sit at 14.4. I say at least up grade your battery up front and 200 to 240amp alt that does at least 140amp at idle.

I'm running this in a Lanos thats not exactly popular enough to have its own high amp. alt. so I was planning on adding the alt. and battery for just the big MA.

and leaving my other amp and electrical system intact.

i'd leave it stock //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif jk...... at least a 200 amp alt man and a yeller top batt. maybe 2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Picked up a sweet CDX20A and am now back to this alt. problem.

I would like to keep the option to run in Street max 1-2 so I can only run one battery under the hood I believe.

As far as finding a high output alt. to bolt into the stock alts. place I have had no luck finding one.

Any idea if you can run your stock 75amp alt. then bolt on another 160amp in (where my compressor would be if my car had air) and connect it to the same battery?

Can you run two alts. in street max?

when your engine is running your system is basically running off the alt so i don't see the reason to drop a lot of money on a battery under the hood. a good second battery would be benificial

It's good to get 2 good batteries. Having a "poor" battery under the hood will conflict with voltage issues from the second battery, mismatched voltages will eventually drain the batts and is harmful to them (pretty sure). Just get 2 decent batteries and run them in parallel. Or just get a kinetik hc2400 and a nice alt.

So far I haven't been able to drop lower then 13.5v averages 13.9v while driving.

How low a voltage drop can my CDX20A D class amp handle before it goes up in smoke?(12v or so)
