How Big a Deal is Summer Heat for Trunk Amps?

It is an issue. Some people install fans for cooling, but that's still limited by pushing air over the amp that's the same temperature as the trunk.

Depends on how hard you push things. ventilation is key. Not having enough breathing room for air circulation is bad.

That's something to think about...and a problem for trunk vehicles. Your just blowing hot air around and nowhere to go.

Find a diff spot for the amp such as inside the vehicle is one other option.

I have a black car. Black amps. Upside down in the trunk. Seats up. Florida heat
Set everything up right and they are fine if the amp has enough heat sink. If they are cheap amps you might want to add fans.
Welp it's in. I'm hanging it upside down in the trunk on the rear deck. I am pretty sure it's wired up right. But I can't run it now because the RCA out "amp control harness" is not attached to my HU. I had to order one it's coming Friday -- so I won't know if it gets hot or not. It's a simple R300x4 -- I got it for sound quality not really volume. The HU I got doesn't compare to the sound of other HU's I had, but it's the only thing for the car. It gets Florida hot in NY in the summer, hopefully there won't be a problem....

Hopefully with it wired right I'll have a similar experience.
