Works picking back up for me in construction. I think the banks may be starting to let a few loans get through.

Truth. I live in a small small town and there are three new businesses buildings being built right now. I was shocked to see even that.

we just had a food lion built here and some other smaller retail places near it, and they just tore down a church to build another one

bad but not as bad as the news is making it out to be. that’s part of the problem. the news station causing people to panic. don’t get me wrong things are tuff. i'm just saying not as tuff as some major news organizations are making it out to be.

IE: i own a coral farm that sells live coral for the home aquarium salt water tank industry

our business is a complete luxury and people have no need for what we sell what so ever. Yet somehow we are doing more business then ever. We are double last years numbers. From where I stand people are spending and they are doing a lot of it. "Knock on wood"

i've got some stuff planned for the US market and its kinda gettin me worried.

All i read on the news is BAD BAD BAD.

But its good to hear some of you guys say that its not as bad as what the news makes it out to be.

the cats u have over there look like the cats we have over here.. hahaha.. ( unless its some special breed).. haha.. i aint no cat lover, heheh.

I think the media stock market people are trying to scare people into selling stocks so they can all buy at once, and get rich. Honestly I don't see much going on around here, but we didn't have the housing bubble here. I think places like Arizona, Cali, Florida, New York, Las Vegas, etc are having the most problems because they were the ones buying houses for 4 times the amount they were worth.

House prices haven't really fallen around here, maybe the super expensive ones, but not the normal median priced houses. Not really any businesses closing either. Only thing would be inflation is noticeable.

I'm poor, and it hasn't effected me. Besides cigarettes going up $1 , but thats a state thing. I buy/spend just as much or more than I ever did.

i haz no jobby right now I was working since I was 14 and now I have been off for 6 months. I have been going to interview after interview. I went to one place (honeywell) then at the school found that at least 3 other people just in my class went to it too. In my industry they have still even laid off more people again. O NOES i even have applied for a crappy job working on cars again I have been away from that for 7 years and will be a bit rusty but I needs money or house go bye bye.

No, the recession his dad made was over by the time Bush # 2 got in office.

Ask an economist if we were in a recession when bush got in office. Their answer is going to be a slow down, not a recession. Bush was a complete **** up, and that's why he has to basically go into exile now. Not going to come back and debate it, but that is how 90% of America feels.

I'm confident we'll come out of it. America is a bit overdue for a recession/depression. I think Obama is looking at a couple programs similar to the New Deal like the CCC and the PWC. Plus the legalization of marijuana would create an boom similar to the one in the alcohol business after the repeal of prohibition.

Ive read that the new deal actually expanded the depression another 8 yrs, WWII was the reason the depression ended, war = a boost in the economy, well a war with a purpose anyway...
