How Accurate Can These Be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed...Termlab or nothin in my book.

If your serious about it...its not a bad investment ....u can easily make your money back testing other people if you want to.

Theres a test with them installed in the same vehicle...and its a lil higher but the scores can be adjusted with the flick of a knob on the AC..go check out various section on Realm vids

damn anyone care to lend me a termlab? ill deposit:D
yeah im thinking about buying one and charge people but what if they jack you, your tl, and your laptop.
just an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif, the epic 160 mounts in your dash, it is not a mic system that you can use to check other peoples SPL's. so buying one and charging people, might be something to re-consider.

also, with that being said, the epic will NOT give you a legal score, nor will it give you the flexibility to check your levels in various locations.

Off topic from the epic, but I've seen some people say the $150 meter on splmeter site isn't to bad for the price, on checking gains and stuff in places. Has anyone tested that to see if they are accurate, as in not jumping all over the place in readings?

Why would you get a meter thats not accurate? And not used by a sanctioned org.
I mean the epic can be a fun tool, but if the guy is looking for acuracy, the TL is the only option to consider.

Why?

He had PM'd me before this thread so I have some more info than what's been posted...in general when folks don't put all of their "requirements" in a post it leads to other folks mis-understanding their question or making assumptions.

For me I chose the EPIC for several reasons

1) Cost.

The TL is $650'ish brand new? EPIC-160 is $189. I don't have $650 to blow on an SPL meter...

2) Function.

I wanted something that I could mount in the car and forget about. I has a nice display and is "always" there. I just look down when I drive around and the EPIC is always there working...If you want to use the epicenter function it's there as well..

TL well you still need to tote it around and mount it up.

3) Accuracy.

It is accurate enough for my needs. 1 day I will get on the TL and compare the 2 but from what other members have said the EPIC is right around 5 db higher then the TL...

Do I want to pay $650 for the TL's incredible accurate? Nope.

Of course if accuracy is the number 1 goal then by all means get a TL...

It really all comes down to requirements. He's not a competitor (neither am I) and I'm not willing to fork over that much money just for an SPL meter.

Now these are just my requirements....if any of his are different well then he is free to buy the TL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i like my epic160, will i use the number to compare to people...no, but it lets me keep track of what songs are louder and what not, and epicenter part is cool

i will not reccommend it to someone trying to get into SPL, but for a neat little daily feature its cool to have, only paid 100$ for it, deff worth it
