Why would you get a meter thats not accurate? And not used by a sanctioned org.
I mean the epic can be a fun tool, but if the guy is looking for acuracy, the TL is the only option to consider.
Why?
He had PM'd me before this thread so I have some more info than what's been posted...in general when folks don't put all of their "requirements" in a post it leads to other folks mis-understanding their question or making assumptions.
For me I chose the EPIC for several reasons
1) Cost.
The TL is $650'ish brand new? EPIC-160 is $189. I don't have $650 to blow on an SPL meter...
2) Function.
I wanted something that I could mount in the car and forget about. I has a nice display and is "always" there. I just look down when I drive around and the EPIC is always there working...If you want to use the epicenter function it's there as well..
TL well you still need to tote it around and mount it up.
3) Accuracy.
It is accurate enough for my needs. 1 day I will get on the TL and compare the 2 but from what other members have said the EPIC is right around 5 db higher then the TL...
Do I want to pay $650 for the TL's incredible accurate? Nope.
Of course if accuracy is the number 1 goal then by all means get a TL...
It really all comes down to requirements. He's not a competitor (neither am I) and I'm not willing to fork over that much money just for an SPL meter.
Now these are just my requirements....if any of his are different well then he is free to buy the TL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
