This is a setup I have ordered, let me know what you think

Deck: Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS

Front speakers: Boston 4" RX47

Rears: Boston Acoustics 6 1/2" SL65

Subs: 2 13" JLw3v3 (eventually move to 4 of them)

Amp: phoenix gold

I am not very smart when it comes to audio equipment, so I have a friend of mine installing everything. We were at a local audio shop talking about how this is going to be installed. I forget what its called, but they were talking about having the subs in the trunk, but firing into the car and sealing around the edges of the box so its only moving air around in the car.

Sounds like a pretty good start.

My suggestion, though, would be to upgrade the front speakers to being a 5.25" or 6.5" component set and amplifying them with an external amplifier prior to upgrading to 4 subs. Because right now you're going to have a pretty big gap in frequency response between the 4" speakers up front and the subwoofers. And, unfortunately, the 6.5" rear speakers are going to have to bridge that gap (and that's not a good thing).

So you'll want to upgrade those in the future to obtain the best results, especially before you upgrade to 4 subwoofers. The rear speakers should, at most, be filling in some music for the rear seat passengers, not filling in gaps in the response that the front speakers can't play. And once you upgrade to 4 subwoofers, you won't have nearly enough midbass response with your current setup to keep up with the level of bass you'll have (you might not really have enough to keep up with 2 subs).

But for a beginner setup to get you heading in the right direction, it's definitely a good start. It all quality equipment that you are purchasing.

Also, you can try to forward fire your subwoofers as the shop suggested. That all comes down to personal preference and what works best in your particular vehicle.

Yea im driving a 1987 Mazda 323... This system is costing me more than the car lol... I don't know if thats something to brag about or not...
