Hot

Can you hear clipping to the ear? Cause my gains are only turned up a quarter of the way, and I have them set properly. It was playing for around 30 mins straight. I mean it wasnt hot really, just warm

You can overpower a sub & it'll get warm over a certain amount of time.

If it's getting hot quick, then you're more than likely clipping it.. turn down tha bass settings.

It simply means that you're running a decent amount of power to the sub. That's all. Not a sign of clipping. Not a sign of "over" powering. Just of powering. Current through a resistance causes that resistor to heat up. Basic Ohm's law. the vast majority of power sent to a sub us lost as heat, not transformed into cone movement. You don't get hugely concerned if your am gets a little warm and assume that it's clipping, do you? Even the least efficient amp is more efficient than a speaker.

Right, well okay then, I wont worry to much about it. My amp Hifonics Brutus, doesnt get hot at all, maybe a slight bit warm, but thats it. And the speaker really isnt that hot either, just barely warm. Just curious. Makes sense though.

Thanks for help fellas

Some speakers actually dissipate a good portion of their heat through the cone...

A warm speaker is NOT always a sign of clipping. lol

I was just double checking. THey are just 10" db-500s so its not like they are some high end speaker. They sound quite pleasing to me ears though..
